Professional Background:
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a Master of Science in Counseling Psychology, an Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S), and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology— all earned from Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!). Since beginning my career in 2010, I have worked in psychiatric acute care, community mental health, higher education, and private practice. These experiences have shaped my understanding of the complexities of mental health and strengthened my commitment to walking alongside others in their healing journeys. Teaching & Leadership: I have serve as an Adjunct Instructor at Indiana University in the Counselor Education Program since 2021, teaching Advanced Practicum (G624) and Advanced Internship (G647) courses, overseeing students in their internships and providing clinical guidance as they finish their masters degree through Counseling and Educational Program at IU. Professional Contributions & RecognitionI am passionate about raising awareness and fostering meaningful change within the mental health community. In 2022, I was honored to serve as the keynote speaker for the local National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) Walk in Bloomington, IN. I was also recognized as a nominee for the Outstanding Mental Health Provider award at Mental Health America of Monroe County’s Mental Health Champions Gala in 2022, 2023, and 2024. As a sitting member on the Eating Disorder Task Force of Indiana (EDTFI) and Indiana University’s Coalition for Overcoming Problematic Eating/Exercise (COPE) team, I actively contribute to statewide and campus-based initiatives supporting individuals affected by eating disorders and body image challenges. Since 2016, I have served as a contract provider for Wounded Warrior Project’s Project Odyssey retreats, supporting veterans at 23 retreats across 11 states. Personally SpeakingI am a proud mother of two incredible girls and a lifelong student of curiosity and growth. I find joy in the many roles I embody— nature enthusiast, daughter, friend, (former) athlete, creative soul, brainstormer, advocate, ally, book lover, and neurospicy brained individual. People often call me a “Positive Patsy,” and I’d say that fits. My personality reflects a blend of an Enneagram Type 3 (The Achiever) and a Myers-Briggs mix of creativity, empathy, and drive—qualities that fuel my passion for helping others grow. Above all, I see myself as a guide—a catalyst for change, healing, and self-discovery. I believe we are all inherently whole, worthy, and enough just as we are. Yet the systems, cultures, and experiences we grow up in can shape beliefs that lead to inner conflict and self-doubt. My work focuses on helping individuals gently deconstruct these patterns and reconstruct a foundation of authenticity, self-compassion, and growth. My Journey My journey into counseling began as a client. Over the years, I’ve navigated perfectionism, anxiety, depression, and a long battle with an eating disorder. Therapy was a lifeline—helping me peel back layers of pain and masking to reconnect with my authentic self. That experience taught me the profound importance of the therapeutic relationship: a sacred space where authenticity, compassion, and non-judgment meet. Now, as a therapist, I deeply honor the privilege of walking alongside others on their own healing journeys. What Brings Me Joy When I’m not working, I’m usually spending time with my daughters, exploring the outdoors, or indulging in creative outlets. You might find me dancing with a tambourine, stacking rocks, journaling, rockin’ out to music, or savoring a good cup of coffee. I love photography, writing, embodied movement, stargazing, quiet moments by the lake, whiteboarding new ideas, finding balance on the yoga mat, and embracing the occasional spontaneous power nap. |
