About Mia
Professionally: I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a Master of Science (MS) in Counseling Psychology, an Educational Specialist degree (Ed.S), and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology—all earned from Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!). My educational foundation and diverse professional experiences equip me to provide compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each individual’s needs.
Since beginning my career in 2010, I have worked across a range of clinical settings, including psychiatric acute care, community mental health, higher education, and private practice. Each role has deepened my understanding of the complexities of mental health and strengthened my commitment to walking alongside others as they navigate their unique healing journeys.
In addition to my clinical work, I serve as an Adjunct Instructor at Indiana University, where I teach graduate-level courses in the Counselor Education Program. My instruction focuses on Advanced Practicum in Counseling (G624) and Advanced Internship in Counseling (G647)— guiding future counselors as they grow in confidence, skill, and self-awareness.
Professional Contributions & Recognition:
I am passionate about raising awareness and fostering meaningful change within the mental health community. In 2022, I was honored to serve as the keynote speaker for the local National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) Walk in Bloomington, IN. I was also recognized as a nominee for the Outstanding Mental Health Provider award at Mental Health America of Monroe County’s Mental Health Champions Gala in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
As a sitting member on the Eating Disorder Task Force of Indiana (EDTFI) and Indiana University’s Coalition for Overcoming Problematic Eating/Exercise (COPE) team, I actively contribute to statewide and campus-based initiatives supporting individuals affected by eating disorders and body image challenges.
Since 2016, I have also served as a contract mental health provider for Wounded Warrior Project’s Project Odyssey retreats. These week-long, adventure-based programs empower veterans to heal from invisible wounds, build resilience, and reconnect with purpose. I’ve had the privilege of providing therapeutic support at 23 retreats across 11 states.
Commitment to Inclusivity:
I am a proud LGBTQA+ ally and gender-affirming provider, dedicated to fostering a space where every identity is respected and celebrated. My practice welcomes individuals exploring the intersection of gender, sexuality, and self-expression, emphasizing inclusivity, compassion, and genuine understanding so that every person feels seen, valued, and supported.

Personally Speaking
I am a proud mother of two incredible girls and a lifelong student of curiosity and growth. I find joy in the many roles I embody— nature enthusiast, daughter, friend, (former) athlete, creative soul, brainstormer, advocate, ally, book lover, and neurospicy brained individual. People often call me a “Positive Patsy,” and I’d say that fits. My personality reflects a blend of an Enneagram Type 3 (The Achiever) and a Myers-Briggs mix of creativity, empathy, and drive— qualities that fuel my passion for helping others grow.
Above all, I see myself: as a guide; a catalyst for change, healing, and self-discovery. I believe we are all inherently whole, worthy, and enough just as we are. Yet the systems, cultures, and experiences we grow up in can shape our beliefs in ways that lead to inner conflict and self-dount. My work focuses on helping individuals gently deconstruct and challenge these patterns, identify the roots of maladaptive thoughts and behaviors, and reconstruct a foundation of authenticity, self-compassion, and growth.
My journey: into counseling began as a client. Over the years, I’ve faced my own struggles—navigating perfectionism, anxiety, depression, and a long battle with an eating disorder. Therapy was a lifeline, helping me peel back layers of pain and masking to reconnect with my authentic self. That experience taught me the profound importance of the therapeutic relationship: a sacred space where authenticity, compassion, and non-judgment meet. Now, as a therapist, I deeply honor the privilege of walking alongside others on their own healing journeys. I know firsthand how powerful it is to feel truly seen, heard, and supported in a safe, nonjudgmental environment.
What Brings Me Joy: When I’m not working, I’m usually spending time with my daughters, exploring the outdoors, or indulging in creative outlets. You might find me dancing with a tambourine in hand, stacking rocks, journaling, or rockin’ out to music. I love a good cup of coffee, photography, writing, embodied movement, stargazing, and quiet moments by the lake. Whether I’m whiteboarding a new idea, finding balance on the yoga mat, or embracing a spontaneous power nap, I try to savor the small, meaningful moments that make life rich and full.
